As these countries are the major source of milk and milk products in the international market. The source of milk is various cattle such as cows, buffalo, goats, sheep and in a small amount from camels.

India tops the list of Top 10 milk producing countries. It produced 146.31 million tonnes of milk in 2014-15. Milk productivity in India is very low compared to western countries. Still it tops the list because of the larger number of cattle in the country. Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh are the major milk producing states. India is also the largest producer of buffalo milk in the world.
The USA is the second largest producer of milk with 93.5 million tonnes milk production. Almost all of the milk in the USA comes from cows. There are 23 main states in the US which deal with milk production. The states with highest milk production are California, Wisconsin, Newyork, Idaho, Pennsylvania, Texas and Minnesota. China is the third largest producer of milk. Its annual production is around 45 million tonnes. The milk production in China is not sufficient to feed its vast population so China is the largest importer of milk and its products.
Pakistan Produced around 42 million tonnes of milk in the year 2015. In Pakistan Buffalos are the main source of milk. A little amount of milk comes from Goats also. Punjab and Sindh Provinces of the country are the main milk producers.
The national milk production, under the inspection of governmental officials, was 35.7 million tonnes. Minas Gerais is the main milk production state in Brazil, accounting for 26 percent, of total milk production, followed by the Rio Grande do Sul with 15 percent and Paraná with 12 percent.
Largest producer of milk in the European Union with a share of 21.1%. The milk production in 2015 was 29.34 million tonnes. It has recently overtaken Russia to gain the sixth spot in world milk production.
Russia is facing negative growth rate in milk production. In 2015, the total milk production was 29 million tonnes.
In France Total, milk production was 23.2 million tonnes in 2015. France registered a decrease of 10% in milk production compared to previous year.
9. New Zealand
This tiny country produced 21.53 million tonnes of milk in 2015. This is a large exporter of milk and its products to countries like China.
This is the last country to make it to the list of Top 10 milk producing countries. The milk production was around 19 million tonnes in 2015. Other than India and Pakistan Turkey is the only country whose significant amount of milk comes from buffaloes also.
